WestJet check-in: Web, Mobile, Airport and Counter

WestJet check-in

What is the process for checking in for a WestJet flight?

WestJet’s check-in options include:

  • Online check-in.
  • Mobile Check-in.
  • Kiosk Check-in.
  • Counter for Check-in.

Is there a deadline for WestJet check-in?

During WestJet check-in at the counter, the check-in cut-off time is 45 minutes before scheduled departure for domestic flights (within Canada) and 60 minutes before scheduled departure for flights to/from the US and internationally.

The check-in deadline for your flight is 30 minutes if you have oversized or overweight baggage. Additionally, if you are traveling with a pet, you should check in 120 minutes before departure on a domestic flight and 150 minutes before departure on an international flight, as your pet may not be allowed to board if you check in less than 90 minutes before departure.

Check-in online with WestJet

Instead of arriving early at the airport, travelers can check in online with WestJet. This process is straightforward. You simply need to visit the airline’s website and fill out the required information. To check in on the official WestJet website, follow these steps:

  • By entering your ticket number or reservation number, you can find your trip.
  • Enter your last name and the 13-digit ticket number or the 5 to 6-character reservation code after selecting the option.
  • Located on the vacation itinerary of your e-ticket, you will find WestJet’s web check-in reservation code.
  • WestJet’s web check-in tool will find your reservation, and you can proceed.
  • Traveling to the United States requires passports, hotel addresses, cruise ship details, and transit airline details.
  • When traveling internationally, make sure you have your passport with you.
  • The Arrive CAN form must be submitted 72 hours before entering Canada on a WestJet flight.
  • When entering Canada, you will need to carry your vaccination certificate to prove you had a full dose of one of the COVID-19 vaccines available. Consider the rules and regulations of your destination country before traveling.

Mobile Check-in

The WestJet app (available for Android, iPhone, iPad) allows you to check in via mobile between 24 hours and 60 minutes before departure. With Mobile Check-in, you can:

  • When the first flight is operated by WestJet, you can check in for WestJet flights, including code-shared and interline flights.
  • Make your reservation with WestJet Rewards, SkyMiles, or AAdvantage points.
  • Choose your seat and a earlier flight.
  • Excess baggage fees must be paid in advance.
  • You can email your boarding pass.

The electronic boarding pass

The original Electronic Boarding Pass must be presented on a web-enabled mobile device if you have one. WestJet does not accept print versions of Electronic Boarding Passes, but a paper copy of the pass can be obtained from a kiosk or a WestJet representative.

When you check in online, you should save a copy of your Electronic Boarding Pass to your phone. You can add multiple Electronic Boarding Passes to Passbook if you have an Apple device (iOS 10 or newer). For Android devices, one e-boarding pass may be saved per device for one guest.

Electronic Boarding Passes are not available for passengers traveling with a child or infant (on their laps or in separate seats).

Check-in at the airport for WestJet

In addition to online and app check-in, airport check-in is still available and easy to use. Here are two ways to check in at the airport:

Airport kiosks: WestJet kiosks offer 24-hour check-in services. You can use these machines to check in up to 24 hours before departure. Kiosks are versatile, effective, and reliable. You just need to arrive at the airport early to use them. If you experience problems with the kiosk, you can contact the nearest WestJet agent for assistance.

Direct Check-In: At many domestic and international airports, there are no WestJet kiosks, so you have to check in directly. This is also very easy since you need your ticket and boarding pass. No matter where you are heading, the airport check-in counter is always available. Therefore, if you cannot access the WestJet website or the app, you can use it.

We recommend checking the WestJet website for information about destinations and flight availability. By knowing the check-in details in advance, you can enjoy a smoother and easier trip.

Boarding

Passengers must arrive 40 minutes before departure at the boarding gate on WestJet’s domestic and international flights. Boarding closes 10 minutes before departure. The flight can be missed if you arrive 10 minutes before departure time, and it is already boarding.
