What is the Qatar Airways deadline for airport check-in?
Qatar Airways recommends arriving at the airport three hours before departure. Counter Check-in usually closes one hour before departure.
To maintain Qatar Airways’ on-time performance, check-in deadlines must be met so that passengers with down-line connections can transfer. If a passenger does not check in on time, the fare may be forfeited and the new ticket must be purchased, or they will be required to pay the difference between the new fare and the original fare as well as a change fee.
Qatar Airways online check-in
Online check-in is the fastest and easiest way to get a boarding pass. The booking reference number, e-ticket number, and passport number are required to check in online. You can do so up to 90 minutes before your flight departure.
To complete the Qatar Airways web check-in process, follow these steps:
Visit QatarAirways.com and click Check-in
Click on the ‘Check-in’ button after entering the six-digit booking reference and passenger’s name in the required fields.
Web check-in for Qatar Airways begins 24 to 3 hours before flight departure
To request flight meal service, click on proceed. When the seat map appears, select the seat and click on proceed.
Click on the ‘Confirm’ button to obtain the Qatar Airways boarding pass. A copy of the boarding pass can be printed immediately or saved to your registered email address for later printing.
For passengers, online check-in is not available
- It is not possible to check in online if:
- Standby or unconfirmed bookings are on your account
- In case you need special assistance or medical attention
- You are traveling alone with a minor
- Payment is required in addition

Qatar Airways mobile check-in
Passengers on Qatar Airways can check in on the go. Using the Qatar Airways staff check-in mobile app, you can check in for flights on Qatar Airways. You then need to follow these steps to complete Qatar Airways flight check-in:
- Open the Qatar Airways app and select Check In from the menu
- Enter the e-ticket number or booking reference along with the passenger’s last name to retrieve the booking
- Using the seat map on your mobile device, you can select your seat for your scheduled flight. You can also request a meal and special services.
- Click on ‘Confirm’ to generate the mobile boarding pass. Click on the ‘Download’ button to save the mobile boarding pass to your smartphone.
No mobile check-in is available for passengers
Checking in with the mobile app may not be possible if:
- The booking on your account is a standby or unconfirmed one
- The patient has a medical or special need
- Unaccompanied minors travel alone
- An additional payment is required
Note: Check-in via the mobile app is not available on flights from Johannesburg to São Paulo.

Qatar Airways recommends arriving at the airport three hours before departure. Typically, check-in counters open three hours before departure and close an hour before departure.
Note
Qatar counter closing times may vary depending on the airport, so check your e-ticket receipt. In addition, you can contact the local Qatar office or the airport where you are departing.
20 minutes before departure, most flights close their boarding gates.
Check-in requires the following documents:
- Original passport or official ID card
- Documents required for your trip
At the airport, you can check in your bags and receive your boarding pass after presenting your documents.
The boarding pass for Qatar Airways
Several ways are available for you to access your Qatar Airways boarding pass after you have checked in online:
- Print your boarding pass. Boarding passes can be printed once the online check-in process is complete.
- Receive your boarding pass via e-mail. Qatar Airways may send you your boarding pass by e-mail. After checking in online, you will receive a link to your boarding pass.
- Receive your boarding pass via the mobile app. Qatar Airways’ mobile app allows you to access your boarding pass after completing online check-in.
