Baggage Policies of Qantas Airways

Carry-on

Qantas Airways permits one bag up to 10 kg for First Class Passenger, two bags up to 14 kg total for Business class, and Premium Economy Passengers. Only one bag up to 7 kg is allowed for Economy passengers to carry in the cabin.

Checked Baggage

Qantas Airways had made baggage policies considering the class and membership of passengers. If a passenger is traveling in Economy Class and Premium Economy Class, two bags up to 23 kg are allotted. If the Economy passenger and Premium Economy Class passenger have a Qantas Club membership, Silver and Gold Qantas Frequent Flyers membership, and Platinum and Platinum One Qantas Frequent Flyers membership they can carry three bags of 23 kg each and 32 kg each respectively. For Business Class and First Class, passenger airlines are permitted to carry three bags within 32 kg each, and if they have Qantas Club members Silver and Gold Qantas Frequent Flyers membership, and Platinum and Platinum One Qantas Frequent Flyers membership then they can carry three bags within 32 kg each and four bags within 32 kg each respectively.

Qantas Airlines launched a membership program called Qantas Club. All passengers can enter into membership by paying A$399 for Australian passengers, NZ$269 for New Zealand passengers and A$369 for Other Country Passengers needs to pay as the joining fee. The entire passenger can use 70000 Qantas points to enter membership. Qantas Airways Pregnancy, Infant, and Children Travel Policy

Expectant Mothers

Flights 4 hours in duration or greater

For routine pregnancies, you can travel up to the end of the 36th week for single pregnancies and the end of the 32nd week for multiple pregnancies (e.g. twins).

Medical clearance is required if you are having complications with your pregnancy (that is if the pregnancy is not routine).

Flights less than 4 hours duration

For routine pregnancies, you can travel up to the end of the 40th week for single pregnancies and the end of the 36th week for multiple pregnancies.

Medical clearance is required if you are having complications with your pregnancy and it is not a routine pregnancy.

Medical Certification

After 28 weeks, you need to carry a certificate or letter from a registered medical practitioner or registered midwife confirming:

  • the estimated date of delivery;
  • whether it is a single or multiple pregnancy;
  • that the pregnancy is routine and that there are no complications with the pregnancy.

The certificate or letter must be available on request and be carried with you at the airport and during the flight in your cabin baggage.

Medical Clearance

Medical clearance is required if the pregnancy is not routine and you are experiencing any complications with your pregnancy.

After Delivery

Medical clearance is required if you are traveling within 7 days of your delivery date. Infants cannot travel for 48 hours after delivery and need Medical clearance to travel between 3 and 7 days after delivery.

Traveling as an Unaccompanied Minor

At Qantas, we consider a child under 12 years to be an Unaccompanied Minor if the child is traveling without the supervision of, or traveling in a separate cabin to:

  • a parent or guardian,
  • a sibling aged 15 years or older, or
  • an adult nominated by the child’s parent or guardian.

If your child requires special assistance or needs specific care, they must be accompanied by a fare-paying guardian or carer who is aged 15 years or older.
