If I want to check in for a Korean Air flight, how do I do it?
Korean Air check-in has the following options for checking in before or after airport arrival:
- Web/Mobile Check-in.
- Kiosk Express Check-in.
- Airport check-in.
- Ticket Counters check-in.
- Automated check-in.
Check-in time for Korean Air
Korean Air check-in recommended that you arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before departure for international flights and 60 minutes before departure for domestic flights. This will enable you to check in comfortably and pass through security.
Time for online check-in
You can check online here:
- Most international flights depart 48 hours or 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
- Domestic flights: 48 hours and 30 minutes before departure.
- Exception: It is recommended to arrive at least 24 hours before departure for flights to/from the United States and Canada.
Check-in time via the mobile app
You can check in with the mobile app:
- Usually 48 hours to 60 minutes before departure for international flights.
- Domestic flights: 48 hours and 30 minutes before departure.
- Exception. It is recommended to arrive at least 24 hours before departure for flights to/from the United States and Canada.
Check-in time is automated.
A boarding pass will automatically be issued to passengers who request automated check-in service 24 hours before departure.
Check-in time at the airport kiosks
- At an airport kiosk, you can check in:
- Most international flights depart 60 minutes before take-off.
- Domestic flights: 30 minutes before departure.
Check-in time at the airport counter
- At the airport, you can check in as follows:
- Most international flights depart 60 minutes before take off.
- Within 30 minutes of departure for domestic flights.
Mobile or web check-in
Korean Air offers Web Check-in Service 48 hours before your flight’s scheduled departure time (24 hours before departure – flights in Canada and the US). It can be used up to 40 minutes before departure for domestic flights and up to 1 hour before departure for international flights when you hold a valid e-Ticket.
Web check-in is not available on Korean Air when:
- From Guiyang, Nanning, Mudanjiang, Tunxi, and Urumqi.
- Taking charter flights or other airline flights.
- Taking a code-share flight with another airline.
- E-tickets must be revalidated (e.g. discounted ticket, credit card verification at the airport).
- Taking domestic flights and requesting additional services (e.g., traveling with a pet, wheelchair assistance, unaccompanied minors, etc.).
- Green card holders traveling to the US.
Web check-in allows passengers:
- Choose a seat.
- Enter and modify the frequent flyer number.
- Enter your passport information.
- Return Check-In Service is only available to First Class and Prestige Class passengers traveling within 48 hours on an eligible itinerary.
Boarding Pass
It is possible to print your boarding pass at home – international airports issue web/mobile boarding passes:
- Korea, Japan, Canada, and the US – all airports.
- China: Web/mobile boarding passes are available for Hong Kong and Taipei.
- In Beijing, Guangzhou, Qingdao, and Wuhan, only Web Boarding Passes are available.
- Europe – All airports except Moscow accept Web Boarding Pass.
- Middle East – Dubai.
- Southeast Asia – Bali, Bangkok, Cebu, Denpasar, Kuala Lumpur, Manila (only Web Boarding Pass), Phuket, Singapore.
- Oceania – Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney.
All other airports will provide an exchange voucher that must be exchanged for a boarding pass at the Korean Air Web/Mobile Check-in Counter with travel and ID documentation. In addition, an exchange voucher will be issued if:
- Taking an infant on an international flight from Singapore.
- Children under 12 traveling on international flights departing from Canada, the Philippines, or Vietnam.
- On international flights, requesting additional services (e.g., wheelchair assistance, travel with pets, etc.).
- The passengers asked for a visa.
Korean Air check-in with the Kiosk Express
This service allows you to get a boarding pass without having to go to a counter. You can use this service up to 60 minutes before international flights and 20 minutes before domestic flights.
Korean Air Kiosk Express Check-in service is only available to the following passengers:
- It is necessary to have an e-ticket confirmed.
- Visiting a country that does not require a visa.
- A Korean national traveling from Incheon to the US under the Visa Waiver Program.
- Travelling from Incheon, Gimpo, Gimhae to China.
- Special assistance cannot be provided through this service.
- Currently, only a few airports offer this service.
For domestic flights: Seoul (Gimpo), Busan (Gimhae), Cheongju, Daegu, Gunsan, Gwangju, Jeju, Jinju (Sacheon), Pohang, Ulsan, Wonju, Yeosu/Suncheon
For international flights,
- Korea: Seoul (Incheon & Gimpo), Busan (Gimhae), Daegu, Jeju.
- Japan: Tokyo (Narita & Haneda), Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka.
- Asia: Cebu, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore (Changi), Taiwan (Taoyuan).
- America: Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Las Vegas (McCarran), New York (JFK), San Francisco, Seattle (Tacoma), Vancouver.
- Europe: Barcelona (El Prat), Frankfurt (Main Airport), London (Heathrow Airport), Moscow (Sheremetyevo), Tel Aviv (Ben Gurion), Zagreb.
- Oceania: Auckland.
Check-in for Korean Air Ticket Counters
Follow these steps to use Korean Airways’ ticket counter check-in service:
- To purchase Korean Air tickets, go to the airport and look for the Korean Air counter.
- Present your Korean Air booking confirmation at the counter.
- The agent has verified your booking
- Confirm your check-in request
- The agent will issue your boarding pass.
Boarding
- Boarding for international flights begins 30 minutes before departure and closes 10 minutes before departure.
- Domestic flights begin boarding 20 minutes before departure and end 5 minutes before departure.
