JetBlue Fee

JetBlue Airways Corporation (stylized as JetBlue) is a major airline in the United States headquartered in Long Island City, Queens, New York City. It also maintains corporate offices in Utah and Florida.

JetBlue operates over 1,000 flights daily and serves 100 domestic and international network destinations in the Americas and Europe

JetBlue Fare Class

For international travel, JetBlue offers several types of fares:

  • Blue Basic: JetBlue basic economy fare.
  • Blue: A standard economy seat with some perks.
  • Blue Plus: Includes a free checked bag and free advance seat selection.
  • Blue Extra: Includes early boarding and Even More® Speed.
  • Mint: JetBlue premium option, with a lie-flat seat and two free bags.

JetBlue Flight Change Policy

By explaining JetBlue Change Flight Policy to travelers, they can understand the rules and guidelines. JetBlue policy offers recommendations and strategies that can assist a passenger in deciding what options are available in the event of a flight change. Furthermore, there is a 24-hour window that allows the passenger to change or cancel the flight without any deduction. Terms and Conditions:

As per JetBlue flight change policy, different rules and regulations apply. Here are the options you should check:

  • JetBlue allows passengers to change their flight plans when unexpected events change their journey plans.
  • Tickets for JetBlue flights, such as the basic JetBlue flight, are subject to change up to 12 hours before departure. Similarly, a charge may be assessed and a fare class may apply.
  • Refundable fares are given as travel credit if a passenger misses a flight.
  • Passengers should request a flight within the required time.
  • 24-hour cancellations are allowed under JetBlue Flight Change Policy
  • When a passenger changes their flight within 24 hours of making their reservations, there is no fee for the change.
  • Passengers must make any changes before departure, and any balance will be credited as a flight credit if there is one.
  • Individuals who redeem TrueBlue points to purchase JetBlue flights are eligible to get their issues back if their reservations are changed or canceled.

JetBlue Change Fee

The JetBlue Change Flight Fee depends on several factors, including the date, the fare type, and the time of the change flight. Modifications must be made 60 days before the scheduled departure, or a $75 fee may be charged. Travelers can pay $75 as a change fee for flights under $100.

Tickets priced between $100 and $149 are subject to a $100 fee, while tickets priced over $150 are subject to a $150 fee. No change fee is charged to Mosaic Elite members.

JetBlue Cancellation Policy

For passengers who need to cancel their flights, JetBlue Airlines offers certain cancellation options. Based on the last update in September 2021, here are JetBlue key cancellation policies. For the most up-to-date information, I recommend visiting JetBlue Airlines’ official website or contacting their customer service.

  • 24-Hour Grace Period: JetBlue allows flexible booking within 24 hours. You can cancel JetBlue airline flights within 24 hours of booking without losing any money or incurring any additional fees. No matter what JetBlue airline fare type you choose, the JetBlue cancellation policy applies if you cancel your reservation seven days before departure.
  • Non-Refundable Fares: Non-refundable fares are usually not refundable after the 24-hour grace period has passed. Nevertheless, JetBlue will issue you a credit for the value of your canceled flight (minus any applicable fees) that you can use on future JetBlue travel. From the original booking date, you will typically receive a credit for one year.
  • Blue Plus and Blue Flex Fares: Blue Plus and Blue Flex fares generally offer more flexibility. According to the specific fare rules, they may waive or reduce fees for changes and cancellations. You should review the fare rules when booking to find out the exact details, including the amount of the fee and the timeframe for making changes.
  • Mint Fares: JetBlue may have specific cancellation policies for its premium Mint fares on select routes. Check the terms and conditions when booking these fares because they often provide greater flexibility than other types.
  • Flight Disruptions: If a flight is canceled or significantly altered, JetBlue may offer affected passengers options, including rebooking, refunds, or credit for future travel.
  • Cancel Due to Bad Weather: The JetBlue Cancellation Policy allows passengers to cancel their flight tickets in the event of a delay or disruption due to bad weather. JetBlue Airlines will apply a cancellation charge, and the unused portion of the ticket will be issued as a future travel credit. Whenever customers want, they can use this credit to book flights.
  • JetBlue Cancels Anytime Travel Protection: The passenger cannot fly as suggested or ordered by a doctor in the event of a medical emergency, an accident, or the death of a family member, friend, relative, or co-passenger. Due to such conditions, airlines allow passengers to cancel their flights, and JetBlue will refund their entire ticket price.

JetBlue Cancellation Fee

There are no cancellation fees on most of the JetBlue fares, except Blue Basic.  Blue Basic fares are subject to a cancellation fee of $100 for travel within North America, Central America, or the Caribbean, or $200 for all other routes. Fare difference and fare rules on the date of change apply.

Tickets left in open status are valid for use for one year from the date the original ticket is issued. MCOs are valid for use for one year from the date the MCO is created. At the time of exchanging the original ticket, the cancel fee will apply. Open tickets and MCOs are fully transferrable.

Tickets canceled before to scheduled departure should remain in OPEN status and can be used within one year from the date the original ticket was issued. Travel can be scheduled beyond the expiration date as long as the open ticket credit is reissued before the expiration date.

JetBlue Name Change Fees

JetBlue Airlines allows only one change per traveler. The passenger needs to pay a small amount as the JetBlue Name Change Fee if they make changes in their names more than once. However, the average fee levied on the passengers for name change can be:

  • The JetBlue Name Change Policy for the passengers of the Blue Basic Seat needs to pay $100 for the name change or correction.
  • However, flyers who come in the category of Blue, Blue Plus Refundable, Blue Plus, and Blue Extra can alter the charges by making the payment from the fare differences.
  • If a passenger is getting their name changed on the ticket via offline methods, then they need to pay $50 as a fee charge.

JetBlue baggage fees

Fees for checked luggage vary depending on your:

  • Elite status.
  • Where you’re flying.
  • The fare you select.
  • If you prepay for luggage in the app or during booking, or if you pay at the airport.

People with Blue Basic, Blue, and Blue Extra fares pay a minimum of $35 for the first bag and a minimum of $50 for the second for flights within the U.S., Latin America, and the Caribbean if paid at the airport or within 24 hours of departure. JetBlue uses variable peak pricing to determine exact checked bag fees.

Flights between the U.S. and the U.K. or Europe are $65 for the first bag and $105 for the second.

If your fare doesn’t include checked bags, you’ll save $5 per bag on the first two checked bags by paying in advance on jetblue.com or in the JetBlue app. The fee for a third checked bag (or more) starts at $200 per bag on flights to the U.K. and Europe and $125 on all others. For anything beyond the first two checked bags, travelers must pay at the airport or during check-in.

Here’s what you can expect to pay for your first and second bags on JetBlue:

Fares that include complimentary bags do not incur this additional fee regardless of when bags are added.

Same-day switch & standby Fee

Same-day switch

JetBlue customers may make a confirmed same-day switch for a flat fee of $75 (no fare difference applies) for Blue, Blue Plus, and Mint fares. Blue Basic fares booked on or after Mar 18, 2024, are not eligible for same-day switches or same-day standby. Blue Basic fares booked before Mar 18, 2024, are eligible for same-day switches or same-day standby with a $75 fee.

Mosaic members may continue to make free same-day switches on all fares (including Blue Basic, until February 28, 2025) starting 24 hours before departure without paying a fare difference or the applicable fee.

A same-day switch can only be made on the day of travel, beginning at midnight in the time zone of your departing flight.

You can do a same-day switch for the same airport, or an approved neighboring airport.

Standby

Depending on your fare, standby travel may incur an additional $75 fee (no fare difference applies), which is based on seat availability. There will be no standby available until February 28, 2025, except for Mosaic members.  To travel standby, you must have already purchased a seat on JetBlue. You may list standby on any sold-out flight between the same cities on the same calendar day as your confirmed scheduled departure.

JetBlue Airlines Pet Fee

JetBlue is a low-cost American airline. Small pets are welcome to fly in the cabin with JetBlue. Or call 1-800-JETBLUE for more information.

Pets in the Cabin

JetBlue accepts small cats and dogs in the cabin on both domestic and international flights if the combined weight of the pet and carrier does not exceed 20 lbs (9 kg). Pets must remain completely in the carrier with the door closed and under the seat during the entire journey. The fee for this service is $125 each way.

Pets in Checked Baggage

Unfortunately, JetBlue does not allow pets to travel as checked baggage.

JetBlue Airlines Seat Selection Fee

Though in most of the fare types, there is no extra charge applicable, there are few worth mentioning cases where it is applicable.

  • Blue Basic fares: $5- $25 per seat, upon advanced selection.
  • Blue, Blue Extra, and Mint fares: Standard seat selection is free.

Elevating charges for Even More Space and Mint seats.

  • Even More Space: Generally, the length of the route determines the fees charged with a range of $10- $99.
  • Mint: Fees are highly dependent and can vary significantly with the route and the frequency.

Note: Costs are subject to change over time, so it’s always good to check when you’re booking or managing your booking to find out what the prices are like.

JetBlue Priority Boarding Fee

For priority boarding, JetBlue does not charge a fee. Customers with Mosaic, Mint, and Even More Space board in priority groups. Depending on your boarding pass, you’ll know which group you’re in.

At certain airports, JetBlue offers priority security, which allows you to go through the security checkpoint more quickly. Priority security can be added when booking a flight or checking in, or purchased separately. There is a $10 one-way fee for priority security, and it’s only refundable if you cancel your reservation before your flight’s departure time.
