Icelandair check-in: Web, Mobile, Airport and Counter

Icelandair check-in

What is the check-in process for Island Air flights?

Icelandair check-in methods include:

  • Check-in online
  • Check-in via the mobile app
  • Check-in at the airport
  • Check-in via self-service kiosks

How long does it take for a Go Airlines flight to check in?

Passengers departing from Kahului or Lihue should check in 120 minutes before departure. For all other flights, check in 90 minutes before departure.

A passenger’s reservation will be canceled if they fail to check in at the ticket lifting point (where Iceland Air provides check-in and boarding passes) at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time for the flight for which the reservation was made at the ticket lifting point. If these requirements are not met, passengers may not be eligible for denied boarding compensation.

Check-in via the web

  • It takes just a few simple steps to check in using Web Check-in from a computer or mobile device with Internet access: Search > Verify Itinerary > Print Boarding Pass > Complete. To search for your itinerary, you must enter the required information: first name, last name, departure city, confirmation, credit card or e-ticket number.
  • When passengers have checked in online, printed their boarding passes, and only have carry-on bags, they may bypass the check-in process completely and proceed straight to the gate after presenting their photo ID. Passengers with baggage to check must do so at the check-in counter. If the following circumstances apply, passengers must attend the check-in counter:
  • When traveling alone as an unaccompanied minor, a parent or responsible adult must accompany the child to the airport of departure. This adult must provide Iceland Air with satisfactory evidence of the child’s arrival at the child’s destination by another parent or responsible adult.
  • Customer service agents must accept pets in the passenger cabin when passengers travel with pets.
  • An infant traveling on your lap (at no additional charge) will require a boarding pass, and the check-in agent must know that the infant is traveling as a lap child.

Icelandair check-in via a mobile device?

  • Using Icelandair’s flight check-in app, passengers can board their flights with their smartphones or tablets. Check-in through the mobile app is easy.
  • Launch the Icelandair mobile app after downloading it.
  • Within the app, tap on the “Check-In” section.
  • You will now need to enter the booking confirmation and your last name as they appear on the reservation.
  • When the booking confirmation appears on the mobile device, select the flight segments you wish to check in for.
  • To select your preferred seats, follow the instructions on the screen.
  • In the event that you require special assistance, Iceland Air will give you the option to choose the meal.
  • The Icelandair web check in app has a baggage payment option if you have checked baggage.
  • You can receive your Icelandair mobile boarding pass by email or save it to your mobile device wallet.

Airport check-in for Icelandair

Passengers who cannot check in online can do so at the Icelandair airport desk. Don’t forget to bring all the required documents for airport check-in, like passports, national IDs, booking references, etc. Domestic passengers need to arrive at the airport 45 minutes before departure. For Greenland flights, passengers need to arrive at the airport 90 minutes before departure.

Passengers on international flights must check in at least two hours before departure. In addition, they must request other formalities at the airport desk, such as Icelandair Flight Cancellation.

The boarding process

In order to board the flight, passengers must arrive at the gate at least 30 minutes before departure. The reservations of passengers who fail to present themselves for boarding at the boarding gate at least 20 minutes before departure will be cancelled, assuming all passengers have gathered at the boarding gate, boarded the aircraft, and the flight is ready for departure.

Unaccompanied Minors are given first priority when boarding and deboarding Island Air aircraft. Island Air check-in provides seating accommodations for individuals with disabilities by allowing them to board the aircraft before other passengers.

Families with children under 5 and military personnel in uniform, as well as passengers who may require additional time and/or assistance in boarding the aircraft, can get complimentary pre-boarding from Island Air. If you travel with a stroller or infant carrier larger than the allowable size for carry-on items, you can gate check it (free of charge) to your final destination.
