Etihad Airways check-in: Web, Mobile, Airport and Counter

Etihad Airways check-in

How do I check-in for an Etihad Airways flight?

For passengers’ convenience, besides checking traditionally at the Etihad counters at the airport, Etihad Airways check-in offers two other options:

  • Online check-in.
  • Home Check-in.

When checking in at the airport, what deadlines should I consider?

It is recommended that you arrive at the check-in counter at least 90 minutes before your flight departure time. Check-in opens at least three to four hours before departure. The check-in period closes 60 minutes before departure (exceptions include 75 minutes for Economy Class passengers departing from Mumbai and Lagos). There are some airports (e.g., Abu Dhabi, the US, the UK, etc.) that allow passengers in First and Business Class to check in up to 45 minutes before departure.

There is a two-hour check-in limit for flights from Abu Dhabi to the US, and the US Preclearance facility at Abu Dhabi airport closes 90 minutes before departure for acceptance.

Online check-in process

To request an Etihad Airways online check-in, follow these steps:

  • Please navigate to the official Etihad Airways website in your web browser.
    • On the homepage, click on the “Check-in” tab. Please enter the booking reference (also known as PNR), your last name, and the city of departure. To access your reservation, click on the “Check-in” button. It is possible to select the passengers you want to check in for if you are traveling with others on the same booking. Flight details, including departure and arrival airports, flight times, and passenger information, can be reviewed. When you check in online with Etihad Airways, you can often choose your seats. As part of the Etihad Web check-in process, you may be asked to submit travel documents, such as passports and visas. Checked baggage may require you to confirm the number of bags and pay any associated fees.
    • Click “Check-in” once all information has been confirmed.

Once you’ve completed the process, you can download and print your Etihad boarding pass.

Mobile check-in

Here’s how Etihad mobile check-in works –

  • To check-in online, passengers must download the official Etihad app.
  • Log into their Etihad Airways account or retrieve their booking by entering their booking reference (PNR) and last name.
  • Check in for the flight segment you selected.
  • The passenger will be prompted to review and confirm their personal information.
  • Passengers can often select their preferred seats based on availability.
  • Passengers with checked baggage can ask passengers how many bags they have.
  • Passengers can confirm their check-in once all the information has been verified.

Etihad passengers can view and download their boarding pass directly from their mobile devices.

Home Check-in

Home Check-in allows you to check in for your flight, select your seat, check your baggage, pay for extra baggage, and collect your boarding pass and bag tags from the comfort of your home, office, or hotel. You can even arrange for a COVID-19 PCR test at home with a certified technologist, available through Etihad’s medical partner, Life Dx.

Non-transit passengers traveling from Abu Dhabi International Airport can book home check-in up to seven hours before departure. All passengers listed in the booking must be present at home check-in, including infants and children. Check-in at home is not available for:

  • The passengers traveling to the U.S.
  • Minors who are unaccompanied.
  • Pets travel with passengers.
  • Medically ill passengers.
  • Unconfirmed reservations.

Check-in must be within 70 km of Abu Dhabi International Airport. Check-in outside this radius is subject to availability and incurs an additional charge.

Choose from three home check-in packages and add extra services:

  • Home check-in: AED 220 for up to four bags and all passengers listed in the booking.
  • Home check-in + bag disinfection (AED 262) is included for all passengers on the booking, as is sterilization of up to four bags for up to 72 hours upon collection.
  • Home check-in plus: check-in for four passengers listed in the booking and up to four bags that will be sterilized upon collection for AED 420 effective against viruses and bacteria for up to 72 hours, plus priority boarding and priority baggage collection at the destination.
  • Extra baggage: 40 AED per bag.
  • Priority boarding and baggage collection: 75 AED per person.

COVID-19 PCR test at home: 239 AED per person.

Airport check-in

Etihad Airways offers self-service kiosks and airport counters to make check-in easier.

Airport self-service check-in kiosks

At select airports, Etihad Airways offers self-service web check-in kiosks, so you can print your boarding pass without waiting in line.

  • At the airport, look for Etihad Airways’ self-service check-in kiosks.
  • The check-in process begins by approaching the kiosk and touching the screen.
  • Your booking reference (PNR) or e-ticket number, as well as your last name, will be required.
  • Once you’ve entered the necessary details, the kiosk will retrieve your booking information.
  • Make sure all flight details, such as departure city, flight number, and date, are accurate.
  • Bookings with multiple passengers may require you to select them.
  • Make your seat selections by following the screen instructions.
  • We will need to know how many bags you plan to check if you have checked baggage.
  • Ensure all information displayed on the screen is accurate by carefully reviewing it.
  • The kiosk will print your boarding passes after you confirm your details.

With your boarding passes in hand and baggage checked (if applicable), proceed to the security checkpoint and go to the departure gate.
