What is the process for checking in for a Copa Airlines flight?

If passengers wish to check in early or after arriving at the airport, they have several options:

Counter Check-in
Web Check-in.
Mobile Check-in.
Web podium check-in.

How early do I need to be at the check-in counter?

Arriving at the airport early ensures adequate security screening and baggage handling. Each passenger must check in at the Copa Airlines counter:

For international flights, at least 3 hours before departure (4 hours for Venezuelan flights).

Colombian and Panamanian domestic flights must leave at least one hour before the scheduled departure time. Domestic flights within Colombia require passengers to arrive 90 minutes before departure during the holiday season or when special requirements are required (traveling with pets, unaccompanied minors, or in need of special assistance).

The Copa Airlines check-in counter closes 60 minutes before scheduled departure, except for Venezuelan flights: Caracas – 2 hours before departure, Valencia, and Maracaibo, 1 hour and 30 minutes before departure.

Check-in online

Copa web check-in can be requested through the airline’s website or mobile app. To request online check-in at Copa’s website, follow these steps –

Navigate to the ‘My Trips’ section of Copa Airlines’ official website.
This page will be displayed when you click on the ‘Check-in’ tab.
The Reservation Code, Connect Miles Number, or E-Ticket Number must be entered alongside the passenger’s Last Name.
To retrieve your booking, click ‘Find My Reservation’.
If there are multiple flight segments, choose one.
Depending on your travel preferences, you can access and choose the seat map.
Please let us know if you have any special requests or meal preferences.
Confirm check-in details.
You will receive SMS and email confirmation of your check-in and Copa boarding pass.
On the day of departure, carry a printed copy of the boarding pass with your other travel documents.

Mobile check-in for Copa Airlines

Mobile check-in offers the same benefits as web check-in for passengers.

Boarding passes on mobile devices

Using the Copa Airlines app or copa.com on your mobile device, you can check into any Copa Airlines destination and receive your boarding pass.

If the local authorities allow it, passengers can use their mobile boarding passes to complete security, immigration, and boarding without printing a boarding pass. If a passenger cannot use the Mobile Boarding Pass at immigration and security, it is also possible to print out their boarding passes at the Web check-in counter.

Check-in at the airport counter

To check in with Copa Airlines at the airport, follow these steps:

Make sure you arrive early at the airport so you can check in, board, collect your luggage, and go through security.
To validate your flight reservation, ask the Copa check-in representative for your booking reference or ticket number.
If you are traveling internationally, you may need a passport and an entry/exit permit.
If you have any special requests or seat preferences, please let us know.
Go to the baggage drop counter to check in your bags after collecting your Copa Airlines check-in boarding pass.

Check-in via the web podium

With Web Podiums, passengers can check-in, buy tickets, see flight information, and reserve seats online.
