What is the process for checking in for an Asiana flight?

Asiana Airlines check-in offers passengers a variety of ways to check in before or after arriving at the airport:

  • Online check-in.
  • Mobile Check-in.
  • Self-Service Kiosk Check-in.
  • City Check-in.

When does counter-check-in close?

Asiana Airlines check-in recommends arriving at the check-in counter at least two hours before departure. If you arrive at the counter after these times, you will be unable to board the flight:

  • Domestic flights in South Korea: 20 minutes before departure.
  • International flights:
    • The general closing time for international flights is 40 minutes before departure (for flights departing from airports not listed below). A minimum of 60 minutes before departure is required for international flights departing from New York, Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, Beijing, Istanbul, and Frankfurt. For international flights departing from Seoul (Incheon), London, Delhi, Manila, Bangkok, Sydney, Okinawa, Phuket, Shanghai (Pu dong), and Rome, arrive 50 minutes before departure. In the case of international flights departing Chongqing, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, or Shenyang, arrive 45 minutes before departure.
    • International flights departing Yantai and Weihai 30 minutes before departure.

Check-in online with Asiana Airlines

The Asiana Airlines website allows you to check in online: 

  • For flights to/from the U.S., up to one hour before departure.
  • One hour before international departure, between 48 hours and 1 hour before departure. 
  • At least 24 hours before the departure of a domestic flight. 

Checking in online with Asiana Airlines is easy.

  1. Visit FlyAsiana.com 
  2. Select Check-in from the menu 
  3. Select and enter your:
    1. The booking number/flight ticket number, and 
    1. Date of boarding
  4. Go to the Search page and click on it
  5. To complete your check-in, follow the on-screen instructions

Note

  • Check-in with your frequent flyer number if you entered it at booking. 
  • The airport’s designated counter will issue a physical boarding pass if home-printed boarding passes are not accepted.
  • Even if you bought your ticket through a travel agency, you can check in online. 
  • Checking in online also allows you to:
    • Boarding pass reissued
    • You can change your seat or personal information
    • Before the deadline for check-in, cancel your reservation

Mobile check-in for Asiana Airlines 

The mobile app allows you to check in: 

  • For flights to and from the United States, 24 hours to 1 hour before departure.
  • For international flights, 48 hours to one hour before departure. 
  • From 24 hours to 30 minutes before domestic flight departure. 

With the Asiana Airlines mobile app, you can check in as follows:

  • Select Check-in from the menu 
  • Enter your booking number and departure date 
  • Choose your seat (optional).
  • Please enter your passport information and travel details (for international flights).
  • Check-in at the hotel

The boarding pass will be given to you once you have checked in.

Kiosk check-in

Check-in for Asiana Airlines flights is available at self-service kiosks. Here are the steps to get a boarding pass at a booth:

1. Locate the self-service kiosks

Look for Asiana Airlines kiosks in the airport departure area. They are usually located near the check-in counters.

2. Scan your passport or enter your booking details.

Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the check-in process by scanning your passport or entering your booking reference number and last name.

3. Choose your seat

Select your preferred seat from the available options. Some seats may require an additional charge.

4. Review your details

Make sure your flight details and personal information are accurate.

5. Print your boarding pass.

The kiosk will print your boarding pass after you confirm your details. Your boarding pass can also be emailed or mailed to you.

6. Drop off your baggage.

Checked baggage can be dropped off at the baggage drop counter or self-service baggage drop kiosk. Follow the instructions on the screen to check your bags.

7. Proceed through security

Pass through airport security to get to the departure area. Make sure you have your boarding pass and travel documents with you.

8. Board your flight

Arrive at the gate on time and present your boarding pass to the airline representative before boarding. Be sure to board your flight at the designated boarding time indicated on your boarding pass.

City Check-in on Asiana Airlines

The following City Airport Counters are available to check in and go through boarding and immigration on the day of departure for Asiana Airlines flights departing from Incheon Airport:

  • From 5.20 to 18.30, up to 3 hours before departure. Samson-dong City Airport. 
  • It is possible to check in up to three hours before departure at Seoul Station City Airport between 05.20 and 19.00. 
  • The airport is open between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., up to three hours before departure. 

Eligibility 

  • You cannot check in at a city airport if:
    • You’re traveling in a group on a charter or non-scheduled flight.Your needs include wheelchairs or services for unaccompanied minors.You’re traveling with large baggage, musical instruments, and/or pets.
    • Asiana Airlines flights are codeshare flights with other airlines.
  • Neither domestic nor international flights can be checked in from Gimpo Airport, and domestic flights depart from Incheon International Airport.
  • The city airport can handle checking for codeshare flights operated by Asiana Airlines on an affiliate company flight number. 

Boarding

  • In international flights, boarding begins 25 to 30 minutes before departure and closes 10 minutes before departure.
  • Domestic flights begin boarding 15 minutes before departure and close 5 minutes before departure.
